This study aims to understand and describe the communication activities of the punden pilgrimage ritual that occurred in Kromong Village, Ngusikan District, Jombang Regency the object of ethnographic research of communication here is communication activity, and the researcher formulated three aspects of communication activity proposed by Dell Hymes, Communicative Situations, communicative events, Communicative Actions. This research method uses qualitative descriptive research methods with ethnographic research types. The research informant consisted of seven people, including village elders, village officials, villagers, and visitors, using primary data collection techniques, namely by in-depth interviews, obsevation and supported by secondary data using documentation, and literature studies. The results of the study are divided into three aspects, namely The communicative situation of the punden pilgrimage ritual is sacred, calm, The communicative event of this tradition involves all residents of Kromong Village who are represented by the head of the family of each KK. This ritual communicative action aims to plead, as well as just to "pray for blessings" so that all villagers are given salvation. The conclusion of this study is, first because this tradition has existed for a long time, this tradition is a form of preserving local wisdom in Kromong Village so that it is not lost and extinct. Second, this ritual is a form of gratitude to God for the welfare of life given to the residents of Kromong Village. Third, as a form of reflection to their children and grandchildren to always remember and respect the traditions and ancestors of Kromong Village.
